The Felecia Patrice Myers Irick Memorial Scholarship has been established by Friends of Felecia Patrice Myers Irick in memory of Felecia, a former Executive Director at New Leaders, a national nonprofit organization that develops and trains school leaders at all levels to ensure equitable outcomes for traditionally marginalized students. She was also an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., a native of Orangeburg, SC, an education advocate in the Baltimore area, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a mentor, a relative and dear friend to many. The purpose of the Felecia Patrice Myers Irick Memorial Scholarship is to honor the legacy of Felecia's commitment to quality education for students, particularly students of poverty and students of color. The scholarship will specifically target black female undergraduate students who are active members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated in good standing at one of the following institutions of higher learning: University of South Carolina, Morgan State University, Coppin State University, Johns Hopkins, Notre Dame or Loyola University who ideally express an interest in pursuing a career in education.
