Career Academy Uniform Shirts

Help us provide career academy uniform shirts for 100 9th grade students at Kingsbury and Hamilton High Schools. These terrific young people are studying either information technology or health sciences in specialized “career academies”.

More than ever, today's high school kids need opportunities that connect them to future careers.  That’s why Hamilton and Kingsbury decided to offer career-focused education through a national program called  National Academy Foundation (NAF).

Enrolled students participate in structured career academies from 9th-12th grade. The program marries career-specific curriculum with experiential learning opportunities like workplace tours, job shadowing and internships with employer partners. Local employers and business representatives from Health Sciences and IT career sectors participate on the Career Academy Industry Advisory Boards and help make sure the students get rich work-based learning experiences. This is the first year the NAF programs have been offered, and this group of 9th graders are the inaugural class. We're proud of them for successfully completing their first semester!

The funds raised from this project will pay for each student to have a collared uniform shirt with their school's logo and the NAF academy logo. They'll wear the shirts when they participate in workplace tours, job shadowing, college tours and other career oriented activities.

The shirts are a small way for us to say "we're proud of you"!  A donation of $25 funds a shirt for one student.  We hope you'll help us reach our goal for all 100.
